“Far up in the north, in the coldest and darkest part of Europe lies a little country called Sweden. You might have heard of it as the place where all ikea furniture is from, where the national anthem is ABBA and where polar bears are used for school transport. Jokes aside – we do have buses and Ingvar Kamprad is far too cheap for sweden’s labour costs – we are very proud of ABBA. Whatever it is that you have heard about Sweden, I am not so sure that you’ve heard of Gothenburg. It is our country’s second largest city and home of many great things. The first Volvo was built here, our port is the largest in Scandinavia and both Glenn Hysén and Glenn Strömberg were born here (you football fans know what I’m m talking about).
It is also home to Gothenburg school of Business, Economics and Law. A university where the student association stands strong as is Swedish tradition. The association is the umbrella for some 50 societies, student corporations and projects which are all tokens of a vibrant student life. Among all these there is -in my opinion- one crown jewel, a star shining brighter than the others. That star is EKON and is the periodical magazine published by the student association where I have the honor to serve as editor in chief.
We are a team of some 25 students with writers, photographers, editors, and art directors that take pride in making EKON all that it is.Today we produce two paper issues per semester together with a lively web page with online content. On top of that we also have an appreciated podcast with one episode per month. All with the overarching ambition to inform, entertain and to provide a platform for discussion and debate on everything regarding the school, the association and more.
My editorial team and I, are very excited to take part in this collaboration between European student magazines. Our universities have been exchanging students for quite a few years and it is only about time that we start sharing our views on student journalism and student democracy. I am certain that we have a lot to learn from each other and that we can have pretty fun while doing so. EKON and the student association that we represent are looking forward to see what will come from this partnership.

Editor in chief, EKON.”
