WORLD SUMMIT NOBEL PEACE LAUREATES – BARCELONA 2015

Peace. Such a small word and yet so powerful. Have you ever wondered how it could be defined? Who is currently in charge of spreading its message? And when do people take care of it? The World Summit Nobel Peace Laureates is an international event which gather every year people from all over the world to discuss about peace and related topics. Its history dates back to 1999, when the first Summit was held in Rome thanks to the commitment of the Gorbachev Foundation, a NGO founded by the former URSS President. Since then, the Summit has taken place in several cities, mostly Rome, but also Chicago, Paris and Berlin. This year it will be hosted by the city of Barcelona. This event mainly aims at making students aware of issues such as environment protection, poverty and cross cultural integration. The latter will be hotly debated this year in Barcelona: migration is indeed on the agenda of all European countries.  Moreover, students have the unique opportunity to meet prominent figures of the UN, Red Cross and various NGO, but also former Nobel Peace Laureates. Our university will proudly take part in this Summit with two different programs: the Journalist and the Youth one. Students participating in the latter will actively interact with Nobel Peace Laureates through several workshops. The return value is enormous: students will be sharing their ideas not only with their international peers, but also with people who have extraordinary experience and much to teach. On the other hand, students taking part in the Journalist Program will interview the Laureates and write their own articles: an incredible chance for them to put into practice their skills.

Our university has, overall, an incomparable occasion to spread out thoughts and ideas in a highly motivating environment, with people coming from all around the world and also important leaders of  international politics. We definitely won’t waste it! Stay tuned! #Luissforpeace
